Paint Your Photo

About 15 years ago, I started an art project using friend's photos manipulated to look portraits in oil that we then printed on canvas. Those who saw them liked them so much they immediately starting commissioning some for themselves. I sold them to friends, family members, clients, co-workers, and a couple of businesses - without ever advertising other than by word of mouth. Unfortunately, at about the same time this idea was looking like something to pursue more seriously, I moved away from those who knew about it.

After a few years settling into my new life and with a bit of prompting from others, I've decided to offer this service again. Fees will be based on difficulty - the more I have to crop out, fix "red-eye" or other errors, etc., the more it will cost. For example, the first "painted photo" required only about an hour's work to reach it's final state. A project of this type would cost $30. The original photo had a high enough pixel count to provide details, didn't need significant color or light manipulation, and didn't need a lot of background detail cropped out.

This one, however, took more effort and - almost a full day's work! The dogs were taken from two separate photos, both of which required extensive background removal, color repair, lighting manipulation, "red-eye" repair, etc. I charged $95 for the project. After the dogs were finished, a suitable background had to be designed.  I'm very proud of the finished product, though!

More examples will be available as time goes on. Please contact me for more information.
